Screen shot 2013-08-04 at 6.28.29 PMI’m a bit cranky. :/

I’m tired of hearing Labor supporters defend Rudd’s asylum seeker policy and framing the Greens policy as idealistic and unrealistic! This is absolutely ludicrous! And utterly false rhetoric!

If Abbott was the one to announce Labor’s disgraceful refugee policy FIRST (to not settle people in Australia EVER and instead settle asylum seekers in harsh conditions in PNG and Nauru), Labor supporters would be up in arms!

The time for Labor loyalty is over.

The Greens policy on refugees is not only compassionate, but it’s practical and proven. It has worked before (during the post-Vietnam War period). It can work again.

Australia can save lives today and care for desperate and vulnerable people into the future. We can help protect men, women and children fleeing for their lives.

The Greens eight point action plan would give people seeking asylum across the region less reason to board dangerous boats and can be adopted immediately.

On a positive note, I have been heartened by locals I’ve met online and in person who’ve said they’re switching their vote to the Greens.

I find as soon as people read and realise the Greens policy is practical and proven to work, people change their voting intentions.

Thank you for supporting good policy. Please share our policy with your friends, family and community networks.

Yes, Abbott’s suite of destructive policies will see Australia slip into an abyss of social conservatism and economic extremism, but that’s no reason to defend the human rights atrocity dished out by Rudd.

No matter what your political stripes, stand up for good policy. Don’t defend atrocities.
