One of the unfortunate things about wearing a number of different hats is that I had to miss Tampa Day today due to my commitment to attend the Queensland Greens Annual General Meeting.
I was on the Tampa Day organising committee and also helped paint some banners last week and provided the calico too! I hope they looked great! At least Greens refugee spokesperson Juanita Wheeler was able to go along and be part of the event. Some other Greens members left the AGM to attend as well. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to do so as there were elections taking place.
My friend Bronwen and I went to a bbq at the Romero Centre this evening. I saw a model of the Tampa that a detainee from Nauru made from mere bits and pieces. The care and time this fellow put into creating this model is impressive and it looks really amazing – especially being that his tools were limited. It really is worthy of a museum piece.
I could continue on about the rest of my evening, but it’s nothing really to do with activism. 🙂
